Bagamoyo is Tanzania's oldest city, founded in the late 1700's. Located in Swahili name bwaga moyo means "heart rest", give up the burden of your heart.

Bagamoyo was the internal slave caravans from entering the destination from which they were freighted by ship to foreign countries. Art Market and its surrounding buildings are part of this history.
